Bristol Bears have signed Wales back row forward Bethan Lewis for the 2026-27 season following her departure from Gloucester-Hartpury.

Lewis has been capped 65 times by Wales and captained the squad during this year’s Women’s Six Nations.
The 27-year-old won three Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) titles with Gloucester-Hartpury, having joined the club in 2018 where she made 95 appearances.
“The club has a clear vision for where it wants to go and after speaking with Scott [Lawson] and the coaching team, it is a journey that I’m keen to be a part of,” Lewis said.
“I look forward to a new challenge and to be able to grow both on and off the field.”
Lewis can play across the back row and follows England full-back Ellie Kildunne in moving to the Bears this summer.
Head coach Scott Lawson described Lewis as a “consistent performer”.
“Her experience, leadership and competitiveness will be hugely valuable to our squad,” he said.
“She has a real winning mentality and understands what it takes to perform at the highest level, week in, week out. Those qualities are incredibly important for the environment we’re building here.”
